Prince Harry and William’s Distant Aunt Undermines British Royalty Image With Anti-Animal Rights Comment

While Prince Harry and Prince William are giving animal lovers there’s hope for the British royal family by putting collars on lions and lobbying the Chinese to ban ivory trade, their ‘aunt-in-law’, Princess Michael of Kent, unwisely angered animal lovers world wide with her unwise statement stating animals do not have rights “because they don’t pay taxes”.

The comment was made at Henley Literary Festival upon a discussion session about her latest novel, Agnes Sorel: Mistress Of Beauty. The Princess who is married to the Queen’s cousin furthermore made the following comments:

  • “I’m a great animal lover and I’m involved in a lot of conservation, but animals don’t have rights. They don’t have bank accounts. They don’t vote,”
  • “We have obligation. We have obligation to animals, but to say they have rights?
  • “They don’t have rights. You only have rights if you pay your taxes. You earn your rights.”

The associate director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Elisa Allen, made a press statement that “PETA urges Princess Michael to study the subject, rather than making an off-the-cuff statement that reflects ignorance of the issue of what fundamental rights animals have, which do not include the right to drive a car or build up an overdraft.” and “She should also exercise caution in opining at all on such issues, because her daft assessment would mean that children and certain classes of human beings are also not entitled to rights.”

This was not the first time the princess clashed with animal lovers as she has an obsession over fur coats.

  2. Maybe the royal family if acting this wAy and making stupid comments should begin paying more tax and not receive anymore tax handouts from the public. Abolish this antiquated institution if they are leaders with ethics

This vain and stupid woman used to go fox hunting, she has many fur coats. Why is she allowed to voice her opinions? It’s because she’s married to the Queen’s cousin, Prince Michael of Kent. The woman’s a parasite and a freeloader. She hates foxes and if she sees one sitting in the grounds of her palatial free home at Kensington Palace she shouts “Tally Ho”. She doesn’t have a job but uses her position to air her views. If only we had that luxury! Make her work in a supermarket to get a grip on the world.

  4. Animals don’t have rights because they don’t pay taxes, says Princess Pushy (and no, they don’t have bank accounts and they don’t vote, either)

    * Princess Michael of Kent hit out at animal rights campaigners today * She was speaking at the Henley Literary Festival about her new novel * She said: ‘You only have rights if you pay your taxes. You earn your rights’ * In 2007 PETA sent her an imitation fur coat after being seen in a real one
