Northern White Rhino, Nola, Dies at Safari Park

Some sad news today as San Diego Zoo Safari Park announced that, due to a worsening bacterial infection and age-related health problems, a 41-year old female white rhino named “Nola” was euthanized. You can read more about Nola and veterinarians’ attempts to address her health issues at The San Diego Union-Tribune’s article.

Nola’s death leaves just 3 Northern White rhinos remaining in the world. To support continuing efforts to save them from extinction, visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s fundraising site at http://www.gofundme.com/olpejeta.

    • Thank you for your comment. Yes, just as her caretakers said, she seemed so sweet. Such a tragedy that there aren’t a lot more like her out there right now. Bless her heart.
