“There is a donkey stranded in deep flooding in Kilorglin. I need a boat and men to help.” A post on social media was made by the owner of the donkey at Ireland’s Animal Heaven Animal Rescue (AHAR) on Sunday.

Ireland is experiencing a massive flood where people have lost their homes.

To his surprise a group member happens to live nearby with a rowboat responded to the call and brought a rowboat to the rescue. Mike Fleming of the Killorglin rowing club offered to take AHAR rescuers to rescue the donkey.

Approaching the donkey, they threw a floatation device with rope around the donkey’s neck and roped him to safety.

The lucky donkey was named Mike, after his hero. Mike will go back to his owner when he’s all warmed up and the floods are gone.
